Kennels, Catteries, Grooming and Hydrotherapy
The Huntsman's Dog and Cat Hotel is a long established family-run luxury boarding kennels and cattery nestled on the South Downs at Findon, near Worthing. Our kennels and cattery are fully licensed. We have been established for more than 30 years, and are renowned for the great care that we provide to the pets that stay with us. As pet owners ourselves - we have bred Bernese Mountain Dogs since 1983 and Golden Retrievers before that - we treat our customers' pets as we do our own... as family.
The Huntsman's Dog and Cat Hotel was built around 1800 as a fox-hunting lodge complete with kennels for the hounds, stables for the horses, and accommodation for the staff. It continued to serve the same purpose for around 150 years. From the middle of the twentieth century, the premises has been the home to numerous dog-related, non-hunting businesses, such as boarding kennels. In 1985, Sue Flanagan bought the run-down property and began the long process of renovating the site. The old flint kennel buildings and yard were revamped as a reception and kitchen area and three catteries. Meanwhile, new kennel blocks were built on the site of the old kitchen garden. The flint stables were internally converted into a Grooming Parlour, a Hydrotherapy Centre and a wash room.
